One of my recent listings had an AC issue — and what started as a routine repair turned into an eye-opener about how HVAC systems have changed, especially for homes that are 10 to 15 years old.
So I decided to bring in Roland from Roland’s HVAC to break it all down. If your home still uses the old R22 refrigerant (like many built before 2010), this is something you need to know. R22 has been phased out, and now R32 is the standard — which means replacing an old AC unit isn’t as simple as it used to be.
In this video, Roland shares practical tips about keeping your AC running efficiently, when it might be time for a replacement, and what homeowners can do to avoid unexpected surprises during inspections or sales.
