Get Ahead of Your Bexar County Tax Bill

Get Ahead of Your Bexar County Tax Bill Before October

· Gina M Garcia

Your 2026 Tax Bill Is About to Become Real

Right now, Bexar County and the local taxing units are finalizing the 2026 tax rates. Once that happens in the next few weeks, your actual tax amount for the bill due January 31, 2027 is locked in and ready to check.

You do not have to wait for the mail. As soon as rates are adopted, you can log in and see the real number for your property.

Why Check It Now Instead of Waiting

What Are You Waiting For?

This is the best way to get ahead of a tax increase before it catches you off guard.

  • If your escrow account is short once the real number comes in, your mortgage company has to make up the difference
  • That shortage shows up one of two ways: a higher monthly payment for the next year, or a lump sum due around February–March
  • Neither one feels good when it lands out of nowhere
  • Checking your amount in October gives you months of notice instead of a surprise letter in the spring

Knowing the number early means you can start adjusting now — not scrambling later.

How to Check Your Actual Amount

  1. Go to Bexar County's Find Your Property Tax Account tool
  2. Search by your property address, owner name, or account number
  3. Select your account to see the current tax amount, property value, and exemptions
  4. Check back after rates are officially adopted (typically late September) for the real 2026 number
